A Mangrove Forest Reserve located on the Klias Peninsula is the Klias Wetland

Located on the Klias Peninsula is the Klias Wetland, a Mangrove Forest Reserve. With the bizarre-looking proboscis monkey gaining as much popularity with the tourists as the orang utan, the Klias Wetland with its large proboscis population is fast becoming the latest ecotourism destination in Sabah.

These tree-dwelling animals normally hunt for food in the evenings so many boat cruises depart the Kota Klias jetty at around 3.00pm.Other riverside residents that may be spotted are macaques, crocodiles, monitor lizards, tree snakes and birds such as the eagle. Back on the jetty; enjoy a natural light show when hundreds of fireflies put on a glowing performance for your benefit

 

Itinerary

1400 hrs

Meet on arrival or at hotel lobby, depart from hotel to Kota Klias located at approximately 112km from Kota Kinabalu. Journey takes approximately 2 and half hours, passing through the countryside offering views of paddy fields and villages.

1630 hrs

On arrival at Klias Jetty, local coffee & tea will be served.

Meals : Refreshment

1700 hrs

Board boat for river cruise to search for the odd nosed monkeys of Borneo the Proboscis Monkeys.

When darkness falls, on the journey to the jetty, witness nature’s display of Christmas lights – the Fireflies.

Meals : Buffet Dinner

2030 hrs

Depart to Kota Kinabalu after dinner to respective hotel.

2130 hrs
