Itinerary

DAY 1 - 1200 hrs

KOTA KINABALU  >  KINABALU PARK HQ 

Pick up from your hotel lobby or airport and depart on a 2 hours journey to Kundasang. Along the way, take a brief stop at Pekan Nabalu.Pekan Nabalu is a place where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits and handicraft for souvenirs. Check in into Hostel or Hotel. Rest of the day you are free at leisure. Dinner will be served at restaurant and overnight.

* Take note : Check in late after dinner timing will be converted to packed dinner.

You are advice to take early flight to not miss the dinner time.

DAY 2

 KINABALU PARK HQ  > LABAN RATA

Breakfast at Park Restaurant and collect your packed lunch proceeds to Park Headquarters for registration. Our Guide will assist you for registration, apply ID tag and assign the mountain guide. Arrive at Timpohon Gate (1800 meters above sea level) to begin 6.5km (Timpohon) to Laban Rata rest houses, stopping every 1km for drinks/toilet breaks. Buffet dinner at Laban Rata Rest house. Check in at Rest house. (Non-Heated Dormitory)

(If you arrive after 7pm you will receive dinner packs only).

DAY 3

LABAN RATA > LOWS PEAK > PARK HQ > KOTA KINABALU

Wake up for buffet supper as early at 1.00am. At 2.30am, begin 3.2km climb to summit (4095 meters). YOU MUST REACH SAYAT-SAYAT CHECKPOINT  BEFORE 5.00am CUT OFF TIME. Park ranger will close the summit gate after cut off time. Watch sun rise at the summit of Mount Kinabalu. Begin descend to Laban Rata for buffet breakfast. Trek down to Timpohon Gate and have lunch at Balsam Restaurant . Transfer back to your hotel.

Extra Info

Important Remarks

  • Trail may be slippery & uneven. Guests are advised to wear shoes with good grip
  • Temperature up in the mountain can dropped to 15c – 25c during the day / night
  • Please let us know if you have dietary request, e.g. vegetarian
  • Do not bring you valuable things such as Jewelry and electric devises etc

First Time Climbers

  • Try not to carry anything at all. Pay extra for Porters-its worth it!
  • Do not worry about porters- just walk at you own comfortable pace & start slowly
  • Due to the height of Mount Kinabalu, you maybe at risk of getting acute mountain sickness (AMS). Some peopple are more susceptible than others but most people can go up to 8,000 feet (2,438 metres) with minimal effect. If you haven’t been to high altitute before, its’s important to be cautious and check with your doctor for advice.
  • Symtoms of AMS are headache, dizziness,fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, nausea, disturbed sleep, and a general feeling of malaise.if the systoms persist, it is adviseable not to continue your climb. To prevent AMS, go slow to acclimatize, stay hydrated, avoid tabacco, alcohol and depressant drugs and eat mostly carbohydrates

Trekking Guidelines

  • Buddy system is COMPULSORY. Always ensure there is somebody to accompany you. For emergencies, ask the mountain escort
  • Do not take anything but photograps and leave nothing but footprints
  • On the mountain top, FOLLOW THE ROPES which leads to the summit
